Design Concept
An office building is being constructed in Doha, Qatar and a facade cladding design is required. The building is situated in an arid, industrial area where yellow dominates and the absence of plants and trees is notable. A color contrast is necessary to alleviate this missing element.
The proposed solution is to create a color gradient with some random variation to substitute the lack of green in the surrounding area. The gradient will mimic the natural variation of hue and saturation observed in plants and tree leaves.
After the initial design was completed, the manufacturers provided a different color template that did not offer a smooth gradient of color, unlike the RGB color template. As a result, the colors had to be manually adjusted to achieve a more realistic green color gradient that can be found in nature. Natural color gradients are not always smooth, as opposed to what we produce using computers.
